Join the Three Falls Team in 2016

Become a part of the finest summer camp staff in Southern California -- apply now to work at Camp Three Falls in 2016.

The Three Falls staff consistently gets rave reviews from Scouts and leaders, and the quality of our staff is what brings troops and packs back to Three Falls year after year. You'll work hard, learn a lot, and make lifetime memories, both for yourself and for our campers.

Applications are due by December 15. We will interview applicants for area directors and other key positions in late December and early January; other applicants will be interviewed in late January or early February.

You must be at least 14 years old to work at camp. Applicants who will be 14 at the start of camp are hired as counselors in training. CITs receive extra training and will rotate between several program areas during the summer. Applicants who will be 15 or older during the camp season are eligible to be assistant instructors, instructors, or area directors depending on age and qualifications. Some positions require specific training or certifications.

While most of our staff is made up of high school and college students, we also have some key positions that require adults, including kitchen staff, office staff, camp commissioners, and some supervisory program positions.

Most staff positions require a commitment to attend staff week, June 19-25; three sessions of Webelos Camp (June 26-July 6); and three sessions of Boy Scout Camp (July 7-30). There will be an orientation meeting in March and three or four mandatory pre-camp training sessions during the months leading up to camp, held on Saturdays, usually at the council office in Camarillo. Training dates will be announced at your interview.

First Year Webelos? We Can Bear It

A lot of Bear Den Leaders forget that Webelos Resident Camp is open to boys who are going to be Webelos NEXT school year -- so if they are Bears now, they can come to camp in summer 2016.

Our Webelos Resident Camp is a great experience for first-time campers. We supply tents and cots, and tasty (really!) meals in our dining hall, so you don't need a lot of camping gear or know-how, just a willingness to try something new.

Our staff puts on the program, with swimming, BB guns, archery, handicrafts, hikes, fun campfires, and much more. Your Webelos can work on several of the new Webelos Adventures. Or you and your den can simply relax and enjoy the mountain air and the great views, and have a good time.

The dates for summer 2016 are

Webelos Session 1 -- June 26-June 29, 2016
Webelos Session 2 -- June 29-July 2, 2016
Webelos Session 3 -- July 6-July 9, 2016

Make your reservations now while there is still plenty of space in all sessions -- in 2015, two of the three sessions sold out and early reservations are ahead of last year.

Download the 2016 Reservation Form here for all the details. You can also download the the 2015 Leader Guide; the new 2016 Leader Guide will be available in late December.

Leader Comments on Three Falls 2015

Just a few comments from our end-of-session leader surveys:

"Best food of any camp I've been to."

"I am proud to say that for the second year in a row Camp Three Falls staff is the best in the last 11 years of my scout camp attendance!"

"When our boys voted to come to Three Falls I agreed but with reservations. I was wrong. Three Falls today is by far the best summer camp I have ever visited. Definitely I will use as an example of a well-run camp."

"Carolyn has made, hands down, THE BEST camp food ever! None of us went hungry with seconds and thirds."

"Awesome climbing wall. climbing, cycling staff excelled not only at teaching but relating to our Scouts.... Our boys loved the night climb, but especially the STAFF"

Staff friendliness is "as good or better than Disney."

"They turned it up to an eleven!"

"You are the standard that the scouts and adults of [our troop] use to compare the quality of Boy Scout summer camps.  Our troop compares quality of staff, food, location, camp sites, facilities, camp fires and program activities of the camps we attend based on our past experience at 3-Falls.  And some of our senior scouts have been to five or six summer camps, and only once to 3-Falls, yet even they consider 3-Falls the standard-bearer.... While our experiences at the other camps have for the most part been positive and many of these camps have some great individual staff members, I think it is the culture of your camp that puts you above the others."

Three Falls Staff Reunion

Mark your calendars, today!

A Camp Staff Alumni REUNION is being planned for Saturday, June 25, 2016.  This will be an opportunity to reunite with friends and to reminisce with one another…a time to reconnect with those glorious days at camp.  Among the things we plan to include in the day are:
8:30—9:00 A.M.  Arrival
9:15 Welcome/Remarks
9:30 Program Areas Open
            Renew Friendships
11:30 Camp Presentation
12:00 BBQ Lunch
1:00 Departure

There will be plenty of time throughout the day to tour camp, reconnect with friends and meet today’s staff who are working so hard to live up to the legacy that prior staffs left behind. If you are a former staffer, RSVP today – we look forward to seeing you in June!

We’re sending invitations directly to staff members for whom we have contact information, buy while we have a solid database of staff members from 2001 to date, identifying those who served prior to 2001 has been more difficult. If you know someone who was on staff, you can help us by passing the word on to them or by emailing their contact information to Whether it’s one name or dozens, you will help build our database and help ensure our reunion at Camp Three Falls on June 20th is a mountaintop experience for everyone.

New Shower House Under Construction

As many of you know, the shower house at our swimming pool had been in poor condition for a long time. This year, council has committed to replacing it with a modern structure, and construction is underway. The schedule calls for the new building to be completed just before the start of camp.

The building includes a large youth section, and separate men's and women's showers. The youth shower room will have dividing doors so it can be split into boys' and girls' sections for coed events. Each section will include individual shower stalls for privacy, benches for changing clothes, plus toilets and sinks.

There will also be open-air showers on the west end of the building -- you can see them in the top picture -- for folks who come to the pool in the bathing suits and just need to rise off quickly. This will reduce waiting time during busy times like swim checks.

The pool itself is also slated for repairs and upgrades in time for the 2016 summer camp season.
